PLUS: Google goes gaga for AI & 3 AI tools for writers!
Hey there,
Happy St. Patrick’s weekend for those who celebrate. Did you know Irish American and Computer Scientist John McCarthy is known as the “Father of AI?” Well, now you know. He coined the term and was an early pioneer in computers. Sláinte!
Anyways, welcome to all our new subscribers. As always, please consider passing this newsletter on to a friend!
Like most weeks, it’s been an insane seven days for AI. Here’s what we have for you this week:

OpenAI changes the future — again
Remember a few months back when OpenAI changed the course of human history with its release of ChatGPT? Well, get a load of GPT-4.
Announced this past week, GPT-4 is like its predecessor on steroids. The takeaways that I thought killed it:
GPT-4 is more ‘creative’. A good example is OpenAI’s marketing site which shows the response the AI gave when asked to summarize the plot of ‘Cinderella’ where each word has to begin with the next letter of the alphabet without replacing letters.
It’s response:
A beautiful Cinderella, dwelling eagerly, finally gains happiness; inspiring jealous kin, love magically nurtures opulent prince; quietly rescues, slipper triumphs, uniting very wondrously, xenial youth zealously.GPT-4 absolutely crushes standardized tests, and I mean, CRUSHES.

GPT-4 can process images alongside text, which means you can upload an image, ask it to do something, and it can leverage the info captured in the image in its response. The New York Times highlighted one demo that showed GPT-4 the contents of a fridge and it was asked what meals could be made with its ingredients.

Oh, btw, GPT-5 is already in the works. Hold on to your hats!
Google goes gaga for AI
In the earliest stages of the AI Wars, Google has been relatively silent.
Not anymore.
Google announced this week a number of AI-enabled and AI-powered features in its Workspace. According to Google, these features will give you the chance to:
draft, reply, summarize, and prioritize your Gmail
brainstorm, proofread, write, and rewrite in Docs
bring your creative vision to life with auto-generated images, audio, and video in Slides
go from raw data to insights and analysis via auto-completion, formula generation, and contextual categorization in Sheets
generate new backgrounds and capture notes in Meet
enable workflows for getting things done in Chat

3 AI-powered tools for writers
To me, the best part about the AI renaissance has been in what these tools can do for writers. Whether you’re writing articles, books, marketing content, scripts, or emails, AI is making it easy to develop and optimize your copy.
Here are three tools journalists, authors, marketers, podcasters, and so many other writers, can use to level up their output:
WriteSonic is among the more thorough AI-enabled writing tools. It has a bunch of great tools for writers in its “Library.” These tools include various versions of their AI Article Writer, Paragraph Writer, Instant Article Writer, Content Rephraser, Article Rewriter, and Idea Generator, among many others. There are also niche tools for advertisers, marketers, creative writers, and e-commerce professionals.
What separates WriteSonic from a few of its competitors, though, is a pretty good ChatGPT-style conversational AI chatbot called ChatSonic. I’ve used this tool for a while and can speak to the quality of the output and what it means as a writing assistant (a lot).
Pricing is reasonable with a number of tiers based on the word count and quality you’re looking for. They also do custom plans for agencies and larger businesses.
Notion, of course, has been a fantastic tool for years. Its recent addition of AI Assist takes things to the next level. If you’re a Notion user, this one is for you.
NotionAI (AI Assist) helps you generate any type of content with the promise “you’ll never start with a blank page again.” And, that’s what we love about AI.
With NotionAI, you can get help writing a blog or social post, meeting agenda, job description, press release, and more. It’ll even write a poem! With functions to help brainstorm, start or continue writing, summarize, translate, and check your spelling and grammar, this is a writing assistant we’re excited about.
Copy.ai is an AI writing assistant that is designed to help individuals and organizations create quality content quickly and effortlessly. It is powered by advanced natural language processing algorithms that enable it to produce content that is accurate and tailored to the user’s needs.
With Copy.ai, users can generate accurate and unique copy in various formats, including blog posts, articles, emails, press releases, and more. By leveraging its powerful AI technology, Copy.ai helps users save time and effort while maintaining the high quality of their content.
It has an intuitive user interface that allows users to easily customize the generated content to their specifications and make any necessary tweaks. In addition, Copy.ai provides detailed analytics and insights into the performance of the content, helping users optimize their content for better results.
